The Virginia Theatre

The Virginia Theatre.

This grand old dame would not be what it is today with out the vision of many who have worked to save downtown Champaign– not the least of whom is Dannel McCollum.

In the last few years the marquee got replaced…

…and also the old 1921 Wurlitzer organ is getting refurbished- a local treasure!

Note: that workover on the old organ was done by one interesting Champaign business- John-Paul Buzard Pipe Organ Builders.

Now outside of The Virginia (home of the annual Ebertfest) is a new sculpture of Roger Ebert.
